Our Meals

We are delighted to be working with The Nursery Kitchen to provide your children with delicious, healthy, nutritionally balanced meals, designed specifically for pre-school children. The meals are prepared from the best locally sourced ingredients and are delivered fresh, with recipes available on their website so that you can make your child’s favourite dishes at home! The meals are rotated on a 3 weekly basis. Allergy and dietary requirements are catered for. Please discuss any dietary needs when enquiring about availability at the nursery.

Healthy snacks will be offered to your child during the course of the morning and afternoon session together with a drink of milk or water. Please be assured that we take allergies very seriously. Children with allergies and intolerances will be offered an alternative from the snack menu. The nursery is a nut-free site.

“Harriet’s food journey has been very much a rollercoaster. At home when it came to dinnertime she was very reluctant to try different meals. Even though I tried my best at giving Harriet a wide variety of foods, 98% of the time the dinner would be left untouched and thrown into the bin. So due to this I started asking Harriet what she would like for dinner and every night it would be the same meal, but how I saw it at least she was eating however she wasn’t getting any variation in foods. When I heard Happy Days was introducing hot meals at lunchtime, I knew this would be a great opportunity for Harriet to try different foods and meals in a completely different environment and surrounded by her peers. All the staff at Happy Days have a great and positive outlook when it comes to food, which I have noticed has given Harriet the confidence at trying different foods and meals. But it has given me the chance to reflect on our dinnertime at home, and I have stopped asking Harriet what she would like for dinner but just to cook a healthy balanced meal and encourage her to try it. And when trying a new food for the first time even if she only eats one piece of that new food to praise her and not give up at the first hurdle, which I learnt from the food workshop Happy Days held back in February. Harriet’s new journey with food has only just begun and it is a slow process, but I highly recommend enrolling your child to have the hot meals at Happy Days. I have seen a big change in Harriet’s eating and I can only put it down to the wonderful meals and the amazing staff at Happy Days for this change.”

COMMUNITY BASED ACTIVITIES

We ensure that any visits or outings that are organised are accessible to all children in our care. Parents are encouraged to accompany children on outings and parental permission is obtained before any visits or outings outside of the nursery setting commence. When children start at the nursery we ask for parental permission to take children on short walks around the farm estate, for example, to the farm shop or post box. We ensure that ratios are upheld at all times and appropriate support is in place for young children or children with SEND to enable them to take part in all activities that are on offer. Risk assessments are carried out prior to any visit or outing and are completed by the Health and Safety Officer or Nursery Manager. A pre-visit to a new site is also completed to ensure the environment and activities are accessible to all children and that any risks are minimised.

We often help members of the local community by organising things like a food collection at harvesttime and a Christmas gift collection for the local women’s refuge. We also invite our families to events throughout the year such as a Christmas sing-a-long, parent workshops and activities linked to nursery themes such as World Book Day.

We hold an annual Christmas event, where our families and members of the local community can join us for festive fun and activities. We also invite our families to events throughout the year such as a Christmas sing-a-long, parent workshops and activities linked to nursery themes such as World Book Day.

OUR ACCESSIBLE ENVIRONMENT

The environment plays a key role in supporting and extending children’s development and learning. Enabling environments is one of the four key themes of the EYFS. We ensure that our environment reflects our commitment to valuing every child and their learning.

Our purpose built premises is accessible to all, with our entrance and three main rooms (Ladybird Room, Caterpillar Room and Butterfly Room) being on ground level. We have low level toilets and sensor taps that enable children to develop their independence and confidence. Our children have access to our large outdoor area throughout their sessions and our loose parts area, mud kitchen, vegetable patch and digging area provide wonderful opportunities for development and rich outdoor experiences. We have excellent links with external professionals, enabling us to ensure our environment meets the needs of all of our children.

BRITISH VALUES

Since July 2015 all registered early years childcare providers are subject to a duty under section 26 of the Counter-Terrorism and Security Act 2015 to have “due regard to the need to prevent people from being drawn into terrorism”. This duty is known as Prevent Duty. As a nursery we take our duty to safeguard our children seriously and have therefore ensured all staff have completed Prevent Duty training and in-house training based on British Values.

We actively promote inclusion, equality of opportunity, the valuing of diversity and British values. The fundamental British values of Democracy (making decisions together), Rule of law (understanding rules matter), Individual liberty (freedom for all), Mutual respect and tolerance for those with different faiths and beliefs (treat others as you want to be treated) are already implicitly embedded in the Early Years Foundation Stage. However we have developed our own document ‘British Values at Happy Days Nursery’ which outlines how we integrate British Values into our daily practice and the importance we place on these key aspects that underpin our children’s learning for the future.

Parent Testimonials

I am so pleased that both of my children have been lucky enough to come to Happy Days Nursery.
Thank you for creating so many happy memories!

The main reasons why we chose Happy Days Nursery was the friendly atmosphere when I visited, the happy children, the variety of activities, the spacious setting, the separate rooms, the times and the fact that the nursery doesn't close during the holidays.
